Queen of Hearts

(lace top-H&M, skirt-UO,tights-Gap,earrings/purse-Kate Spade, necklace-DIY, shoes-Chuck Taylors,sunglasses-Wasteland)

Happy Valentine's Day!
I made this necklace in spirit of the Queen of Hearts--and created hearts out of cards.
I was going to wear my super high Jeffrey Campbell Lita's, but embraced being super comfortable in my Chucky T's--which also allowed me to tip toe around swans, and frolic through the Palace of Fine Arts as though I was the Queen of the castle!

Vintage Valentine

These photos were taken by the lovely Veronica Suh.

I pretty much died when I found out this vintage dress was even more retro than I thought---a gem from the 1950's!
The dress is from Chick-A-Boom Vintage in Petaluma.

This vintage 1950's dress is the perfect Valentine's Day date dress.
I fell in love with the coral color of this dress and that it was completely made out of beautiful vintage lace.
My heart melts for vintage, and especially vintage lace.

I found the most amazing vintage shop in Petaluma called Chick-A-Boom Vintage, and I got this 80's vintage sweater there.
I love the details on it--the fringe beads on the edge of the collar and the sequined and beaded Navajo inspired pattern on the collar just makes me smitten.
Sometimes I just die over Vintage pieces.
I got this dress on super sale at UO, and thought it created a nice 80's Rocker-Goth vibe with the sweater and hat.

Lace Escape

(Vintage Lace Jacket-Vintage,  jeggings-AG jeans, shoes-Micael Kors, top-Gap, sunglasses-borrowed from Brother)

I am obsessed with lace, especially vintage lace.  Vintage lace pieces always make me feel like I am wearing a treasure or piece of art.
I love the shape of this blazer and how the fishtail back gives the whole outfit a unique look.  This jacket is a statement piece, so it is best to let statement pieces speak for themselves and do their job to draw attention to that one piece in the outfit.  That is why I opted to keep the colors in the rest of my outfit black, so I could let the jacket make the statement and be noticed.  Since an allover lace jacket is quite fancy I used a pop of bright fuchsia lipstick as my only accessory.  This way color can be infused into the outfit to help complete the look.

Amber Glow

What I love about this outfit is that it is incredibly versatile.  The lace skirt and sequin cardigan can be worn together to make a big statement or worn separate with black to be more casual.
Since the outfit is comprised of two statement pieces I made sure to leave accessories to a minimum-no necklace, earrings, or bracelets.
It was super cold the weekend I wore this outfit, so I put on a fur trimmed hat and leather gloves to keep warm.  Since the gloves and hat are black and are true winter accessories, I felt they actually completed the outfit and added something to it rather than takeaway from the statement pieces.
The holidays are a time to add whimsy to your outfits, so that is why I went for it and paired an antique yellow sequin cardigan with a lace skirt.  The combination becomes a perfect Holiday outfit that is dressed up while still being fun and whimsical.  Investing in these pieces has been ideal for my winter season wardrobe.
I have made so much use out of the cardigan-it is perfect to pair with blue jeans and flats for work and I can add heels at night when I go out.  The black lace skirt has also been very versatile and I have paired it with a black top and solid black tights to let the skirt be noticed more.  I had fun wearing this outfit and love any excuse to  pair sequins and lace!

The Palace

(dress-F21, tights-Banana Republic, shoes-Coach, socks-J.Crew, necklace-F21)
The Palace of Fine Arts is one of the most beautiful and romantic spots in the city.  It is stunning every time of the day, and it was especially gorgeous this sunny weekend around sunset.  We caught the last glimmer of light in the sky to take these photos.  This spot is near and dear to my heart, as it is a place to reflect and retreat.  This is the best spot to picnic accompanied by some $4.99 Carlo Rossi, hummus and pita chips!
I love the airiness of this F21 dress and how the light comes through its layers.  I wanted to make this delicate dress less girly and more edgy, so I paired it with some high ankle boots, black tights and studded ankle socks.  The combo of the soft dress and edgy accessories created the perfect blend of girly-grungy rocker chic.

Vintage Hippie

My mom showed me this amazing 60's vintage lace top that she has kept for 40 plus years, and I immediately became its new best friend.
The details in it are so gorgeous, sweet and unique.
I could live in this top--perfectly accessorized by bare feet and live guitar folk music (thanks Andy).

Velvet & Lace

Spent the day walking around Healdsburg and popping into local art galleries with my mom and sister.
