I wore this outfit when I was in New York last week (for work) which had to be the most freezing cold day while I was there.  I took the red eye into NY immediately went to the West Village to meet Jennie, Lydia, Eliot, Christina and Caylee for a delicious brunch (fabulous ladies indeed!).  We sat and talked for hours, and then when we were done with brunch we walked to a cafe to get some dessert and coffee and chit chat some more.  We literally ate and chatted the day away from noon until 5, and I have to say it was an incredibly lovely and relaxing way to spend a day in  New York with great company!

Let's now talk about how awesome this little moon and star print is on these pants--so fun!  I  got them at the SF favorite Mira Mira shop in SF.  You can read about Mira's favorite trends here in this awesome Refinery29 article.

This is my version of Urban Prep.

I have been living in this leather jacket.  I got it on super sale at Nordstrom's and I seriously wear it almost every day.  It is the perfect jacket to layer under a winter coat for extra warmth...and I love that I can wear this jacket in doors all day to stay cozy at work (while looking chic of course).

I really love the marled knit detail on the cuffs, hem and neckline of the jacket--it makes it super unique and special.

What is an item that you just can't live without right now?

I just love this dress and hat from the 1950's--so whimsical and full of character.

For some reason the feeling of this look reminds me of a mixture of Tim Burton and Charlie Chaplin.

Everytime I wear something Vintage I daydream about the person who wore the garment when it was originally created and I ask myself.. 

Who was she?  Where was she going?  What was her life like?  Was she in love in this dress?

I adore Vintage for its unique tailoring and craftsmanship as well as the magic and mystery behind the story of who it once belonged to.

I'm a hopeless romantic for Vintage I guess!

Doesn't a hot pink dress just make you wanna have fun?
It sure makes me want to twirl around, smile, laugh and be goofy in a child like sort of way. 
Hot pink can be either sexy and fun or very cute and young. 
A better reason to wear hot pink for all of those reasons.

Is the Cyndi Lauper song 'girls just wanna have fun' your girly girl anthem when getting ready to go out or what? 

This might be my next song choice for karaoke!

When I was in New York for work I got to meet up with the best lady ever-Lydia!

We went out to a delicious Vegan dinner, enjoyed wine, bar hopped in the West Village and got to catch up a lot. 

Lydia took these pics before I went to work and luckily the weather was very nice, sunny and warm (pre flash snow storm).

I LOVE this Mink Pink dress I snagged from the cutest shop in the Mission- Mira Mira.

Mira herself was at the shop when I stopped by, and let me tell you she is the raddest person ever.  Talking to her as I tried on the whole store brought retail therapy to a whole new level--getting my shopping fix while gabbing with an incredibly awesome and down to earth woman/shop-owner was the ultimate shopping experience!!!

I have more photos to come with pretty goodies from Mira's shop...and I was lucky enough to have Lydia shoot my Mira outfits while I was in New York.

And how lovely is my debut of my gorgeous Coach bag!!!!!!

Polka Dot time is my favorite time!

Gee wiz I am delighted by the polka dot trend this Fall / Winter.  

It is impossible not to feel cheery in a polka dot print--so I added polka dot tights to my polka dot dress and added in my Vintage circular suitcase to keep the dot theme running.

I wanted to play with scale so found these awesome large polka dot tights the really complemented the Navy 60's Vintage shirt dress.

I love how Lydia captured this outfit as the feeling and mood is exactly what I was looking for: Gypsy 60's circus lady traveling through the forest with a Charlie Chaplin quality from an old fashioned silent film.

This dress is a few years old--but hey, why not make the old new again?

The whimsical, spiderwebby velvet swirls on the chiffon make this dress a perfect piece for Fall.

Not to mention wearing a green dress is sort of fun since this is the only green dress I own.

To tie in the velvet on the dress I cut a piece of velvet ribbon to make a little DIY choker--easy as pie!

Cheers to Fall and all the beautiful tones in nature and fashion that come with this lovely season.

The title pretty much sums up this wild outfit.  The reflective sunglasses make me feel insect or alien-like which is fun.  The aztec knit skirt is festive and the 80s sheer color blocked shirt is so super awesome.

With all the wild colors, prints and textures combined with alien eyes I am ready for an 80s dance party.

 She eats Fashion for Breakfast

Taken from the haiku I have named part of my blog 'Fashion for Breakfast' where I post facts about fashion history--which is something I am obsessed with.
This has been a part of my blog I have neglected a bit, so I wanted to rejuvenate my spirits to keep doing history posts--so what better than a photoshoot to draw inspiration?!

I am fascinated by fashion history and spend my time outside of my blog and work learning about it. 

 My sister has been so kind to check me out very special fashion books from her library at her fashion school. 

 I thought it would be nice to share with you all the fun facts I learn on my blog especially since I am learning from books (the old fashioned way) and not the Internet.

These photos were so fun to take and Lydia and I got to enjoy a yummy breakfast together.
I felt like I was in an old black and white silent film in a cafe in Paris.  My 1950's dress and hat definitely helped to set the old fashioned mood we were going for.

I will do another post soon featuring some more outfit pics from this look.

So grab a mimosa, pull up a chair and join me for some fashion for breakfast.
